Alastair Wood Wedding Band in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and ScotlandThe Alastair Wood Band is one of the busiest bands in Scotland and is a firm favourite with many exclusive venues - such as Hopetoun House. As well as being one of Scotland's top Ceilidh Bands, Alastair and the band perform Modern Pop and Rock Classics and are masters at getting everyone dancing and enjoying themselves. His usual line-up is 4 or 5-piece with 2 accordions, fiddle, guitar and drums. Alastair's band is unusual in having a guitar instead of the more regular keyboard; however, this gives the Band a distinctive sound and a very wide repertoire. The band appears regularly on the BBC Radio Scotland "Take the Floor" Scottish dance programme, and as well as playing at events up and down the country, has played in the Far East on a number of occasions for the St. Andrews Societies of Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia. However, in addition to performing Scottish music to very high standards, Alastair and the band can also provide Modern numbers ranging from Van Morrison to Robbie Williams and Barry White to The Blues Brothers! So they can give you Ceilidh music for one half of the evening and Modern for the other half. - or any mix you want!
The lead vocalist has an excellent voice and performs songs by Barry White, Van Morrison, Roxy Music, Mavericks, Wet Wet Wet, Robbie Wiiliams...and more...with ease. Quite simply, they are a great band with a very broad repertoire and very much in demand for Weddings, Functions, Ceilidhs, and Scottish Country Dance Clubs all over Scotland and abroad. Not so long ago, they were booked to perform for, and in honour of, the real Calendar Girls (on which the hit film is based) in Harrowgate. Some Testimonials"Just a belated note to thank you for playing at our wedding on 19th May. You

Help! How do I play these music files? It's easy! Just double-click on the link and Windows Media Player (or whatever music player you have installed on your PC) should run and start playing the music file within a few seconds. Make sure you have your speakers plugged in and switched on. If you have a Broadband internet connection (which is very fast), then the music files should play very smoothly straight away. However, if you have a standard "Dialup" connection (your modem dials up to allow you to make the connection to the internet) then you will find the music file stops and starts all the time. This is because your PC music player is trying to stream or play the music as it downloads to your hard drive but your internet connection isn't fast enough to play the music smoothly. If that is what is happening to you, then all you have to do is let the music stagger through once (it is downloading as this is happening) and then it will play at full speed after that. You can then listen to the the music file as many times as you want.
Alternatively, you can download the mp3 first and play it from your Hard Drive. To do this, just right-click on the mp3 link and select "Save target as" from the drop-down menu. You can then save the mp3 file to your Desktop or any other folder of your choice. When the mp3 file is completely downloaded, double-click on it and it will play immediately on Windows Media player or whatever music player you have installed. We hope that has helped you. If not, just give us a ring on 0141 577 6604 and we'll talk you through it. We're here to help you in any way we can. Back to Wedding Bands and Function Bands in Scotland Back to Main Page | |||||
